Hiking

Snowboarding----This is epic snowboarding country; the best of the best. Snowboarders flock to Mt. Baker and claim the sport was virtually invented here. Need we say more?

Skiing----With steep chutes, natural half-pipes, canyons and plenty of tree skiing, Mt. Baker is not a "ski rink" it is a mountain!

Cross Country Skiing----The Mt. Baker Snoqualmie area currently has 119 miles of designated cross country ski trails, though numerous other opportunities are available throughout the forest. Visit the Nooksack Nordic Ski Club web site for more info on trails and conditions.

Snowshoeing----Whether snowshoeing on designated snowshoe trails or just going cross-country, the Mt. Baker area provides the avid snowshoe-er with countless opportunities to tramp over miles of snow through pristine forests or pristine alpine terrain.

The Mt. Baker region offers some of the best hiking opportunities in all of the USA. Hundreds of miles of trails and thousands of stunning views are just steps away from Mount Baker Retreat. For everything from a rainforest amble to scrambling over high alpine ridges, you'll find a hiking adventure just perfect for you!
Mountain Biking
The Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest area offers a variety of mountain biking trails. From gentle forest loops winding through the forest to thrilling downhill, opportunity abounds for those seeking the rush of pedal powered adventure.
Golf
Indulge yourself in a game on the nearby course while absorbing clean fresh air and taking in the awe inspiring views of snow capped peaks. The Bellingham / Mt. Baker region has more public golf courses than any area in Oregon, Washington and Idaho according to Golf Digest magazine. There are fourteen in all!
Whitewater Adventure
An adrenaline-filled adventure awaits on the North Fork of the Nooksack River! With class III and IV rapids, the river offers an excellent opportunity for those seeking a thrilling adventure. There are numerous outfitters in the area that offer guided tours, click here for more info.
Fishing
Silver Lake is only a 15 minute drive away, while the North Fork of the Nooksack is only 1/2 mile away.

Bird Watching
Relaxation is often number one on our list of preferred (and much needed) recreation! Mount Baker Retreat offers a peaceful setting, comfortable rooms, cozy fireplace, sun-drenched decks and best of all, a private hot tub! Northwest Washington is famous for year round bird watching. There are literally dozens of horesback riding trails in the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie area ranging from beginner to advanced. Inquire in the town of Glacier for current outfitters. The spectacular Nooksack Falls are only a 15 minute drive away and are able to be viewed year round. With a drop of 100 feet, these are the second highest falls in Washington state.
